About Me
Hiya I’m Esther! A British-Nigerian, East Midlands raised, London living beauty obsessive in her my mid-late twenties, who enjoys talking about beauty. I’m also very blessed to be working in beauty marketing for none other than glow supremos, BECCA Cosmetics.
In 2017, I graduated University of Reading after 4 years studying BSc Consumer Behaviour and Marketing; building my marketing communications career since 2014, through numerous internships and part-/full-time roles. I’ve been fortunate to have accumulated just under 7 years of varying experience, working with great teams at the likes of GTI Media, Henley Business School and most recently, Boots UK and now BECCA Cosmetics (as part of Estee Lauder Companies).
I’m a Christian, and you may notice a verse or affirmation at the end of each post. These are the verses I’ve taken on as positive affirmations particularly in my toughest and happiest moments. Whether you’re a believer, non-believer, in a limbo or just curious, I hope they bring you some reassurance or comfort as they have done with me.
Outside of work, church and blogging, I love live music so [pre-Covid] its likely you’d usually meet me with a show, a concert – or four – booked across the year. I also love going to art galleries, attending seminars turned webinars on issues such as marketing, inclusion in beauty amongst others. I think Netflix is a great invention, and I’m in the 2% of the population who love Bake Off, Made in Chelsea, Eastenders, Love Island, Friends, Sister Sister, Ugly Betty, Drag Race, Devil Wears Prada and The Crown simultaneously. Additionally, as you may or may not have guessed, I’m a serial beauty shopper (fueled further by the Boots staff shop) and the proud owner of the same red lipstick in different brands and formulas.
About EST. SINCE 94
In addition to being a beauty addict on my own accord, as part of my current and previous roles I’ve been fortunate to not only try new and cult beauty products; but also pick up a wealth of tips, tricks and product recommendations from the pros along the way. So I’ve decided to write it all down to share, in the hope others are interested and find it somewhat useful.
As the tagline says this blog will is “beauty, lifestyle and everything in between”. I’d say the main focus is beauty, in the realms of skincare and makeup; my favourites, recommendations and reviews – in my ‘Let’s Talk About’ series especially – along with some inside scoops into the world of BECCA, look breakdowns and recreations (stay tuned for that). I’m also branching into lifestyle, in the areas of food to share my favourite recipes, mini travel diaries, and unfiltered chats in the thoughts and think-pieces category.
This blog is just sharing the things I enjoy in life with you, in the most authentic way I know how. I’m very passionate about diversity, inclusion and representation, particularly in the beauty space; which is one of the key reasons I had started this blog way back when in 2014. I don’t see a lot of people like me, as a dark skin black woman, and although I love reading mags and beauty blogs, I always found it hard to truly relate to the majority of content when as I couldn’t always directly apply it to myself as a dark skinned black woman. The times I did, the results were…interesting to say the least. Important notes to my younger self: no you probably don’t have any redness, please wear SPF on your legs and face, you can wear red lipstick (just find your colour and maybe a lipliner), do not dowse your hair or face in hairspray, there are other moisturisers outside Vaseline and please do not use salt water to get beachy waves (LOL) – it won’t work and your hair will be crispy. I digress.
My main aim is that you enjoy reading and interacting as much as I did creating; that you feel comfortable, and hopefully you find this a useful yet safe space to enjoy beauty and more.
Disclaimer
As mentioned, I work for Esteé Lauder Companies (ELC), as part of the BECCA Cosmetics UK marketing team. We are fortunate to receive goody bags or gifting on occasion, and outside of that enjoy staff discount on ELC brands. Whilst I am part of the ELC family, all views are my own and are impartial; I will denote how products were acquired as appropriate, with an asterisk (*). This also applies for products received during my previous employment at Boots UK.
Happy reading!
Esther

The new makeup launches I immediately added to my wishlist (and basket)
From TikTok viral foundations and creamy blushes to skincare infused tints and game-changing mascaras, have a scroll through for the launches I can’t stop thinking about. In the meantime, I’ll try and justify my way into buying 3 foundations, 2 mascaras and yet another neutral eyeshadow palette. Oops.
10 mins or less: Glowy base and statement brown lip in 6 minutes
My first ‘look’ post on here! I’ve set myself a challenge to see what looks I can do in under 10 minutes, and with as few products as possible, to be video call ready in WFH life.
Let’s talk about…cleansers
Have a read for the lowdown on what, how, when and why questions asked in the cleansing world; including all the cleansers that I’ve tried and tested. Bear with me, there are a fair few (this post has made me realise I may need to go on a cleanser specific spending ban)….

Awesome blog and cool layout! Can’t wait to read more 🙂 xo
